BELINDA VELASQUEZ CATAMISAN

The second of 3 children to Bayani & Cleotilde, Belinda Velasquez Catamisan was born on January 31, 1952 in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines. People fondly referred to her as Bely, Atching Bely, Ate Bel. Surrounded by numerous first cousins on her paternal & maternal sides, Bely’s younger years were spent between her birthplace and her father’s hometown Ternate, Cavite where her father served as Mayor. From elementary through high school, she attended Holy Family Academy in Angeles City. She then sought higher education at the prestigious University of Santo Tomas earning a Bachelor of Science in Commerce. Belinda began her career at Manila Bank where she formed multiple unbreakable friendships.

Belinda had 3 daughters – Angela (Fritzie/Fritz); Anne Marie (Mariteh/Marty); Debrah (Dab). The 3 girls were the loves of her life … until grandchildren were ushered into her life in her later years.

Her parents Bayani & Cleotilde petitioned her to migrate to the United States and she arrived with her daughters on July 17, 1987. She resided in Hawthorne (Los Angeles County, CA) among her wide-ranging family who also relocated to America. Upon coming to the US, she spent the second half of her career in finance, specifically as a senior reimbursement analyst in the healthcare industry and was employed by reputable companies such as Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, Providence St. Johns, Providence St. Joseph, & Sutter Health. True to her style, she forged more lasting bonds at these organizations.

Belinda became a grandmother when her niece Lianne (her younger sister’s daughter who she loved dearly & treated as her own) gave birth to a baby girl Kaiya. In a year’s time and within an 8-month span, Belinda became a “Lola” (Filipino for grandmother) when her own daughters each delivered their first-born sons (Wyatt, Nikolas & Aiden). Four more boys followed after a few years, Pierce, Liam, Morrison & Marc. Two granddaughters perfected the bunch and Belinda delighted in every moment spent with her close-knit grandchildren, perhaps reminding her of her own upbringing. The arrival of her grandchildren yielded the most endearing & sweetest name for her which was “Lola” and she relished that wholeheartedly.

Bely lived the latter of her life in Aliso Viejo (Orange County, CA). At the age of 60, she embraced retirement, committed herself the Catholic church attending daily masses at St. Nicholas & Corpus Christi, and instilled a faithful & prayerful life to her grandchildren. Belinda found a higher calling and in May 2026 enthusiastically became a Eucharistic minister for the sick & homebound of the parish. Additionally, she volunteered to become a catechist for St. Nicholas. This fall, she would have assisted children as they prepared for their first holy communion, a key sacramental rite in Catholicism.

Belinda lived a simple life comprised of dedication to our Lord and devotion to her family & friends. She possessed a great big heart with love for everyone she encountered. The abundance of people who reciprocated care and affection towards her is a testament to her warmth, sincerity & generosity. Her tenderhearted personality was far reaching and those around her instantly recognized that she was undisputably the kindest soul they had ever come across.

Belinda entered heaven’s gates on July 17, 2026 and is reunited with her father Bining (Bayani), mother Tending (Cleotilde), older brother Del & sister-in-law Tessie, nephew Reggievic and grandson Pierce Trombino.

She is survived by her 3 daughters and their families – Angela (Fritz) Trombino & better half Rich; Anne Marie (Mariteh) Vargas & spouse Omar; Debrah (Dab) Nishihira & husband Garrett; grandchildren Wyatt (17), Nikolas (16), Aiden (16), Liam (12) Morrison (11), Samanatha Jo/ SJ (8) & Delaney (7).

Additionally, she leaves behind her only surviving sibling, younger sister Erlinda (Erlie) Paprocki, doting brother-in-law John their daughter Lianne, partner Marcos, Kaiya (19) & Marc (12). Belinda also cared deeply for her late older brother’s sons, JV and JC Catamisan. And let’s not forget the countless adoring aunties, uncles & first cousins.

Belinda’s family extends their deep gratitude for the love & support and ask that you continue to honor Belinda by continuing to pray for her and keeping God in your hearts always. To say she will be missed is a great understatement.
