Barrett Harding
Bird
March 4, 1921 – June 26, 2011
Barrett Harding Bird
Born March 4, 1921 in Flint, Michigan; died June 26, 2011 in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. His wife Margaret preceded him in death, in 2008. Barrett and Margaret lived in Temecula, California for more than thirty years where he founded and operated Santa Margarita Winery. This new career brought Barrett much joy as he had the chance to get to know so many people when he poured them a glass of wine. He and Margaret could be found at the winery most weekends, and their faithful followers leaned on wine barrels to share in conversation. Prior to that, they lived in San Pedro, California where he was an aerospace and filtration engineer.
Barrett was a Veteran of World War II and flew transport planes from the United States to Russia and India. He is survived by his daughter Sandy Stone; son-in-law Tim Stone; grandchildren Erin Dimry Charles, Aimee Mella Rudy, Adam Stone Amber, and Ian Stone. He also leaves twelve great-grandchildren.
Barrett was laid to rest in Riverside National Cemetery, with Military Honors, on June 29, 2011.
