Trotter, Barbara Jean
March 5, 1928 – May 15, 2015

Barbara Jean Trotter was born on March 5, 1928 in McMinnville, Oregon and passed away peacefully on May 15, 2015 at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach with her children by her bedside. Barbara was married 62 years to James Rodney Trotter who passed away April 6, 2010. They are now together again forever.

Barbara and Rod lived in Costa Mesa for 42 years in the same house then moved to Laguna Woods. Barbara was a registered nurse for over 30 years. She helped open Hoag Hospital Newport Beach in 1952, she was the first RN at the new 75 bed Orange County Hospital. After having 6 babies she returned to work and ran the Emergency Room at Hoag in the evening hour for the next 24 years. Hoag was her "home away from home".

Barbara is survived by a loving family, which includes 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

There will be a mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on El Toro Road in Laguna Woods on Thursday, May 21 at 9 am. Following mass there will be a graveside service at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach then back home for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hoag Hospital Foundation/Emergency Room or your charity of choice.
