Obituary

After a full life filled with love and faith, Barbara Gerhard passed away on December 10, 2025, at the age of 94. Barbara was born in Osage, Iowa on April 19, 1931 to Mary and Elmer Mount. Barbara married John Gerhard in 1951. During their marriage of fifty-six years, they raised ten children and were happily involved in the lives of their eighteen grandchildren.

Barbara was a vibrant and hopeful woman. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother whose life was a reflection of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. She gave selflessly to her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved. Her adventurous spirit, warm heart, and quiet wisdom touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. Barbara enjoyed family time, car rides, playing Rummikub, writing letters, Starbucks, gardening, and visiting with friends.

A woman of deep faith, Barbara trusted in God’s guidance throughout her life. She loved God, her family, and her country. While we mourn her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is now at rest in God’s presence, and reunited with loved ones who went before her. We celebrate her life and the joy she brought to others.

Barbara Gerhard is survived by eight of her ten children, seventeen grandchildren, and brother, James – all who will forever cherish her love, gracious spirit, and the memories shared together. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A service will be held at San Antonio Catholic Church in Anaheim on January 8, 2026 at 10:00am.
