   Dear Bill,

   From the first time I met Loise several years ago, I knew she was a classy lady. I believe it was at an American Restaurant Group Christmas party. She looked so elegant and tailored. She reminded me of a member of the Kennedy clad. You were always so out-going, that Loise seemed reserved in comparison. I believe it was few years later when I commented on a broach she was wearing. It was a Christmas tree with a bird sitting on one of the branches. I asked Loise if that was a bird in her Christmas tree. Her response was “It’s a partridge. Ken, I always thought you were sharper than that.” Well, she made me laugh with her witty remark. It was from then on that I realized Loise was not only refined, but also funny, warm and kind too.

   I think I spoke to Loise more after you moved to Florida. I would call looking for you and we would take a few minutes to talk. You were always out fishing and golfing. We would talk about the weather or whatever; it was our opportunity to become friends.

   You told me once on a trip back to California that in retirement, as a gift to Loise, you did all the cooking. That way she got some benefit out of retirement too. It told me how much you loved her.

   It was great to be able to work with you again last year. I always enjoyed your wisdom and kind manner. I still remember the dinner we had together with Susan and Loise. It touched me to see how much you cared and respected one another. Susan and I have been married for 25 years, yet it is always inspiring to see such a perfect partnership. You were so comfortable together. Talking about your dogs. Telling stories about your experiences together. I liked the way you would suggest to one another “Tell them about ,” and you would take turns adding in the details without ever once interrupting. It was more than a delightful evening. It was very special.

   When you emailed to indicate you were heading back to California this summer, Susan and I talked about getting together again. We thought maybe you could come up to Los Angeles to see our remodel-in-progress, our neighborhood and our pugs It was your advice at dinner that night to get two puppies at the same time. It would have been great to see you both. I never imagined it would not happen.

   We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of Loise’s passing. You have been in our thoughts and prayers these last few weeks. It takes a lot of strength to continue when you loose your soul mate. We can only imagine how difficult it must be. Your heart is spilling over with happy memories of your years together, more than enough to cherish until you reunite in Heaven. God bless you during this difficult transition.

   Dear Bill,
   We are very sad since we learned about the passover of Loise.
   We have received a long e-mail from Mary Ellen Bennett, so now we know that Loise was ill since last January and we realize how long she had to struggle against her illness. It must have been difficult for both of you. Happily, you have very good friends in California.
   We are in vacations in the Alps and Jean and Pepe are in St Gervais. So I could visit them and give them the news he was so sad to hear.
   Loise was such a wonderful friend for us; first when my mother was still living and she and Jean so enjoyed to stay witl you in San Diego. That was one of the most happiest time of their life. Then Loise and you continued to be so nice with Jean and Pepe. Each time you came in France, it was a great time. I think that both Loise from the States and Jean from Fance loved to organise these trips !
   I was happy to participate to these events; once when I went with Jean and Pepe in Virginia. Do you remember the hussicane ? or when you attended Pascale and Nicolas wedding party, or your visit in Paris.
   Still I can find many good souvenirs that prove how a long and true relationship gives happiness in a life despite the distance !
   All our very affectionnate thoughts are for you Bill.

   Sorry to hear of Louise’s death.
   Didn’t remember she was so close in age to Gaylord. Lots of good memories of those years when we lived on Fancy Creek. Too bad our lives drift apart. Fern U. Nelson
