Obituary

Austin Martin Williams

October 25, 1981-November 28, 2021

It is with great sorrow we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Austin Martin Williams.  Austin left us unexpectedly on November 28th, 2021, at age 40.  His love for family and loyalty to friends was unwavering.  He will be deeply missed.

Austin was a strong force, with a wide range of interests and accomplishments.  Always inquisitive and curious he explored, researched, and developed deep convictions.  He was not afraid to be unique and authentic.  He stood up for his beliefs, challenged conventional wisdom, and he pushed us to think.  He cared deeply about people and was a good listener, and truly empathic to people in need.

In his childhood years Austin participated in the Boy Scout program and enjoyed developing his skills.  He was musically inclined, learning to play the flute, and ultimately became the Drum Major at El Toro High School.  He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis on Video Gaming, a passion that continued throughout his life.  He thrived on innovation, embraced computers and video games, and consumed all things digital.  He was a creative leader and entrepreneur, always looking for ways to improve life.

Predeceased by grandparents, Richard and Celia Williams, and John and Sally Cross, Austin is survived by his parents, Don and Ellen Williams, brother Richard Williams, fiancé Breanna Taylor, and a host of family and friends.  Austin will forever be in our hearts.

O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 17th at 10:00 a.m. where we invite you to share your memories of Austin.  Burial will be at 1:30 pm at the El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest, California.

I was always amazed at how smart, real, and passionate you were. I lived in a life of limitations while you saw no limits. Austin you helped shape my life with your creativity and perspective. Our conversations were always the outliers on the bell curve ranging from simple to very deep and profound. You were always my family during my darkest and brightest times of my life. I miss you dearly and will forever be in my heart brother.

I believe I first met Austin when I was in high school (2000/2001) and was lucky enough to get to know him through the DDR/music video game scene. A memory I would like to share with everyone is when Austin asked me to buy him a long, black, trench coat for him at a Hot Topic back in 2015.

They don’t make this coat new anymore so he was looking all over for it online and he found that they had some in stock at one in Hot Topic in the Northern Seattle area. I live in Seattle now so he messaged me and ask if I could go get him a couple of them and then mail them back to him. I said “of course” and he messaged me the address of the Hot Topic on a Saturday morning I drove up to that location to get them for him and send them to him the following week.

The next time I was down in the LA area visiting family and friends, we got together, to catch up, and he was wearing the coat I went to get him. I feel like, after that moment, Austin and I messaged each other once or a few times a week just talking about whatever was going on and about how things were going.

I will miss his friendship very much and I’m truly lucky that I could call Austin a friend. I will never forget his friendship.

    RIP.
