Obituary

Ashot “Sam” Simonian, 89, passed in peace and went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Newport Beach, California. He was born on February 24, 1924 to Taguhi Marcarian and Ferdinand Simonian in Tehran, Iran. He met and married Donna Mae Bauer in December 1953 and went on to have 8 children.

In 1958 he started a typewriter and adding machine business, Universal Typewriter, which is still thriving today. Ashot was an avid fisherman, hunter, and he loved the outdoors. He passed on his adventuresome spirit and love of the outdoors to his children who also love nature, camping, boating, waterskiing and riding motorcycles. Ashot stayed active and exercised every day and at the young age of 89 you would often see him riding his 3 wheel bike on the streets of Huntington Beach.

Survivors include his 8 children, Linda Simonian, Cindy Simonian, Teri Robertson, Jeff Simonian, Steven Simonian, Sondra Colby, Connie Der Torossian and Craig Simonian, and 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and many great friends.

Ashot was preceded in death by his wife Donna; parents; his grand parents; and brother Haigus Simonian and sister Hilda Aghabegian.
