Obituary

Arthur Joseph Cummings, born October 31, 1928, passed away June 13, 2014 in Naples, California. He was 85.

Art was born in Norwalk, Connecticut to Joseph and Anna Cummings. In 1951 he graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School and Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut.

He accepted a position at the biotechnology company PerkinElmer as a materials management supervisor for the Electronic Products and Instrument divisions of the enterprise in Norwalk, Connecticut. In 1965 he was praised in a feature article for his management skills in a union newsletter on parts and line supervisors.

In 1979, Art and his family were transferred to California where he worked in the Memory Products sector. He later retired as the materials manager for the Applied Sciences division.

Upon retirement Art and his wife Betty moved to Casta Del Sol in Mission Viejo, California. Art was a columnist for “The Courier” newspaper where he wrote articles on all things from fly-fishing to the art of shaving. Casta Del Sol housed many of their dear friends and memories and was the perfect community for them to enjoy their many hobbies; Art’s favorite was golf.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Collins Cummings and sister Joanne Cummings and is survived by sister Mary Lou Vaughn (Mrs. David) of Danbury, Connecticut and children; daughter Maura McLarty of Seal Beal, California and sons James A. Cummings of Fairfield, Connecticut and Paul Cummings of Long Beach, California; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
