Obituary
Antonio Ramos Nery
Antonio “Tony” Nery, a longtime resident of San Diego, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the age of 83. Surrounded by his family, Tony’s passing marks the end of a life full of love, service, and dedication to those around him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and patriot who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tony was born and raised in Parañaque, Philippines. He later immigrated to the United States and became a proud citizen. He joined the US Navy in 1965 and proudly served for 30 years. After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Tony worked at the Naval Aviation Depot as a structural aircraft mechanic and engineer, where he spent many years contributing to the mission of the U.S. Navy.
A lifelong sports fan, Tony was a devoted follower of both the San Diego Padres and the San Diego/LA Chargers. He could often be found at the ballpark or in front of the TV cheering on his teams, or spending time by the pier, taking in the ocean breeze and casting a line for his favorite pastime of fishing.
One of Tony’s greatest joys in life was watching his grandchildren, Jordan Anthony and Ava Ryan, grow and succeed. He was an enthusiastic and dedicated supporter at their swim meets, always cheering them on from the stands with a proud and loving heart. His presence at these events will be fondly remembered by his family and friends, as he found immense joy in their achievements.
Tony’s greatest pride was his family. He cherished his role as a husband to Teresita, his partner of 43 years, and was a proud father to his two daughters, Arlene Whitney (Kevin) and Audrey De Ramos (Neil). His love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and he adored the moments spent together, especially watching them flourish and pursue their passions.
Tony’s legacy will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family but also for his quiet strength, sense of humor, and loyalty to his friends. His kind heart and willingness to always lend a hand or offer a listening ear made him a cherished friend and neighbor. His memory will live on in the stories shared by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Tony is survived by his daughters, Arlene and Audrey, his grandchildren, Jordan and Ava, sisters Angelita and Telly, brother, Ricardo, as well as many family members and friends. His life touched countless hearts, and he will be remembered for his love of life, his unwavering dedication to his family, and his generous, compassionate spirit.
Tony is now reunited with his beloved wife Teresita, whose love and partnership were his foundation. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fond memories that will continue to inspire those who loved him.
May he rest in peace.
