Anthony J. Messina

Anthony J. Messina, 99, of Laguna Niguel, California, entered into eternal Life on Friday, September 22, 2023. Born on July 6, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, Anthony was the son of the late Jasper and Rose Messina of Kansas City. He was a longtime resident of Kansas City, Kansas. Anthony and his wife moved to Laguna Niguel, California in 1992 to be with their daughter, her husband, and two grandchildren. Maxine passed away in October of 2021. They had been married for 70 beautiful years.

Anthony honorably served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. He began his career as a Mechanical Engineer with Messina Brothers Construction Company. After several years with Messina Brothers Construction, he accepted a position with the General Services Administration, retiring in 1989. He was responsible for overseeing the operation of elevators in federal buildings throughout the United States.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, to all who knew him. Family was the most important part of Tony's life. He carried on his Italian heritage and traditions with his family, especially his two grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to music as well as playing and composing music on his keyboard.

Anthony is survived by his sister, Joyce Schellinger of Kansas City, Missouri, daughter, Jean McCormick and her husband, Michael McCormick of Laguna Niguel; and his son, Mark Messina of San Juan Capistrano; two grandchildren, Jennifer McCormick and Jeffrey McCormick of Laguna Niguel; and many dear relatives and friends.
