Ann M.
Pelot
May 29, 2018
Ann M. Pelot, PhD, 77, was born in Austin, Texas, and passed away in Laguna Hills, California on May 29, 2018.
Ann is survived by brothers, Timothy C. Meyers, Jr., DDS, of Atlanta, GA/Bermuda, Michael Meyers of Atlanta, GA/Bahamas; husband Daniel Pelot, MD; daughters Michele R. Pelot, MD (Ross Canning), and Denise Danielle Pelot Owens, JD (Brian Owens); grandchildren Aidan Canning, 8, and Olivia Owens, 1; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was active in her parish, participating as a Eucharistic minister, holding the bereavement coordinator position for many years, and attending weekly Bible studies. She loved music and the arts and played piano, attended classical concerts and opera performances, and ensured that her children had the best musical education possible. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, oil painting, making silk flowers, learning computer programming languages, and nurturing her children and grandchildren. She was a life-long learner and educator. Ann had the distinction of being the first woman to be awarded a Ph.D. in mathematics from Georgetown University in 1968, and she taught at the university, college, and community college levels in Southern California.
Ann's strong faith and quiet ministry will be sorely missed by all who knew her, and especially by her church family, to whom she dedicated countless hours for the last 40+ years.
