Obituary

O’Donovan, Andrew L., age 79, of Carlsbad CA, passed away June 23, 2010. Andrew was formerly a longtime resident of Mission Viejo.

He was born in Los Angeles Ca, January 3, 1931. He was married to the love of his life, Joan O’Donovan for 45 years.

He was a Landing Craft Operator during the Korea War. Following his discharge from the Navy, he began his career as a Pipe Fitter at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and along the way won many trade related awards sparking an interest in teaching part time at the technical trade schools. He obtained his teaching credential and attended technical courses at Purdue University.

While working full time and teaching trade classes in the evenings, he still found time to take his balsa wood long board out for some surfing at Dana Point. Following his retirement from Robertshaw Control Company, he spent time traveling with family and friends and taking long walks on the beach at Carlsbad. Whenever you asked him how his life was going, he would say, ‘It’s been a good ride.’

He is survived by son, Dan Linda; daughter Julie; grandchildren Ryan, Rachel, Kelli and Michael; sisters Julie and Nellie; and sixteen nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 7 at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA. Graveside services to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest CA.
