Obituary

Andre Damon Moore, 37 died on November 24, 2017 in Irvine, California. He was born on November 4, 1980 in Detroit, Michigan to George and Darleen Moore. He is the oldest brother of two siblings. Andre had many interests and hobbies including but not limited to, engineering, home renovation, stock trading, real estate investment, travel, and automobiles. From a very young age, Andre developed an interest in engineering and aerospace. His interest in aerospace prevailed, such that he transferred from one highly competitive magnet school (Martin Luther King Jr High School in Detroit) to another – the Benjamin O Davis Aerospace High School where he flew small planes and cultivated the beginnings of what would become a successful and storied professional engineering career. After high school, Andre attended Western Michigan University where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics while working at a movie theater to help pay his tuition. Right out of college he was hired at tier one automotive supplier, Yazaki North America where he designed the electrical wire harness for the Dodge Nitro. Never one to let the grass grow under his feet, Andre began exploring other areas to apply his skills and found his way across the country to Seattle where he was hired by the Boeing Company in 2007 as a liason engineer. Over the years, he navigated through various airplane programs and organizations, becoming a team lead, and eventually entering management – his most recent role being that of Global Propulsion Customer Service Manager at the company’s Seal Beach location. Just as dedicated as he was to his profession, he was even more dedicated to his role as husband and father to his wife Kristin, and their sons Marcus (7), Miles (5 months), and Austin (d. 2016). Andre was proceeded in death by his father George Moore, and his maternal grandmother Helen McCoy. He is survived by his mother Darleen, brother Josh, Sister-In-Law Rochanda, niece Helen (3), paternal grandmother Marie, brother-in-law Frank Lindsey, Mother-In-Law Shirley Reese, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Viewing will be held on Thursday December 14, 2017 at O’Connell Funeral Home in Laguna Hills, California, and memorial services will be held on Friday December 15, 2017 at Saddleback Church, Tent #2 in Lake Forrest, California at 10:00 am. A Detroit memorial will be held at the James H. Cole Home for Funerals at 16100 Schaefer Hwy. Detroit, Michigan 48235 and burial will be in Detroit at Elmwood Cemetery. Andre’s Detroit memorial will be on Tuesday December 19th, at 11:00 am.

  1. Andre had such a big heart and everyone who knew him agree that he was such a humble good man who cared deeply. Andre loved his wife and kids and would do anything for them. His team and coworkers as well. As his employee, one thing that always made me laugh is when I would forget something or do something wrong he would chuckle and then say “tell what was your laugh process during that?” Or “that was silly!” He always made me feel welcomed, apart of the team and important… (even when I made a mistake or was absent minded!) In addition to Andre’s loving personality, he had a special nick for procedures and was SO methodical with everything he did. Haha! I loved it! Everything Andre did was intentional. He was funny, and intellectual and just a great person you have known. Andre, you taught me so much and was my my mentor. I just want to make you proud. Sometimes I ask God why I only knew you for such a short amount of time…and then I stop and thank God for the honor of getting to know and work with you. You have blessed me with the friendship of your family. I pray that I will make you proud and continue on the company’s good reputation. Hold on to your little on while in Heaven and I’ll hold on to the friendship and love I have for your family. Until n
I see you again my friend…. see you soon

I worked with Andre years ago on the 787 Program. Even in the most frustrating times when we were dealing with change management chaos, he always had a smile on his face and never lost his cool. His great working together attitude helped push us through many challenges. He was one of my favorite engineers to work with. My sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues for their tremendous loss.

  3. Andre and I worked together for 4 years on 787 development. He was really smart engineer and also gentle man for everybody even we have conflict. We worked so hard on countless issues and stay late in factory, talked a lot of things. He was always positive and care for others. He was studying after work for better his future. Sometime, I still think how good thing can be if I can work with him again.

We used to go salmon fishing and played poker every year, that was fun.
And also he accepted to be the witness for my marriage ceremony.
My wife and I had fun time with Andre and Kristin and kids. So, all of these are really good memory and we feel very sad and missed you. Our heart are always with Andre and Kristin family.

  4. Andre always has been good people. I remember when we first met and we bonded on our love of video games while in college. I never seen someone talk so much trash while playing video games…lol. Andre was the friend that would make you laugh to relieve you from the stresses and struggles of school. I have so many fond memories of my friend, from shared meals to adventures traveling out on the road or having a competition on who can do the most push ups or from spilling food and drinks all over the carpet throughout the apartment. Dre was my guy and he will be missed but never forgotten. Rest In Power King!

  5. The most striking memories I have of Andre is the calm in the eye of the storm. Andre was always calm, kind and generous – no matter what crazy things were spinning around him. This trait was helpful for the rest of us to latch on to and be part of that positive force. On top of that he always had a smile for everyone – no matter whom.
My heart and prayers go out to Andre’s family at this difficult time.
