Amy Bridget Alderfer, beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother, passed away on May 3, 2023 at her home in Coto de Caza, California after a valiant battle with cancer at age 49.   She was born on November 29, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada to John and Barbara Alderfer.  Amy attended St. Viator elementary school and was a graduate of Bishop Gorman High School, (1992), Loyola Marymount University, (1996) and USC Gould School of Law (1999).  While attending law school, Amy met James ”Jamie” Bernald and they were married at St. Viator Parish in 2003.

Amy was an accomplished litigation attorney and was a member of the California and Nevada State Bar Associations.  Amy was formerly a partner in the Santa Monica California office of the Cozen O’Conner law firm.  At the time of her passing she was a Principal Attorney for The Walt Disney Company at the Disneyland Resort, which was her dream job.

Amy was the past president of the Century City Bar Association.  She served four years as the president of the USC Gould Alumni Association and was on the USC Alumni Association Board of Governors and the USC Gould Board of Councilors.  In 2021 Amy was honored with the USC Alumni Associations Widney Alumni House Volunteer Award.

Amy was an avid runner and participated in many 5K, 10K, and half marathons including many of the Disneyland Marathons.  Amy had also been a long- distance cyclist and had completed the 100-mile Solvang Century Bike Ride.

Amy was a devoted wife and mother and was active at the Saint Paul the Apostle School that her sons attended in West Los Angeles before moving to Coto de Caza.

Amy is survived by her husband, Jamie Bernald, sons William Bernald and Ryan Bernald, her parents John and Barbara Alderfer, her brother Kevin Alderfer, her sister Karen Alderfer, brother-in-law Michael Truong, niece Bridget Truong, mother-in- law and father-in-law Gene and Mary-Lynne Bernald, and brother- in-law and sister-in-law Jeff and Melissa Bernald.

A memorial mass will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Church, 10750 Ohio Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90024 at 11:00 AM on June 13, 2023 with a luncheon to follow.  The interment service will be private.  The family requests donations to the Sister Stella Foundation, Attention Treasurer, P.
