Obituary

Alice Herzog Davis passed away on September 8, 2011.

Alice, a third generation Californian, was born in 1926 in Los Angeles and raised in Brentwood and Glendale. Alice graduated from USC in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Relations. Shortly after graduation she married John P. Davis Jr., and they settled in North Hollywood where they raised their three children. In 1972 they moved to Monarch Bay in Orange County.

Alice and John were lifetime supporters of the University of Southern California. And Alice continued her support after John’s death in 1990. She served as Director of The Friends of the USC Library, as a member of The Board of Governors of the General Alumni Association, as a fundraiser for Norris Cancer Center and as an officer of The Trojan Leagues of Los Angeles and Orange County. In 1992 the University honored her with a distinguished Alumni Service Award.

Alice was also active in several service organizations, serving as president of the Queen of Hearts Guild of CHOC, a member and officer of The Assistance League of Los Angeles and the Volunteer League of Southern California, and as a founding member of the Wheelchair Tennis Organization.

In 2003 Alice married Hugh Cripe of Newport Beach, CA. They enjoyed 7 happy years together prior to his death in 2010.

Alice was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. We’ll all miss her terribly. She is survived by her children, Tom, Virginia and Paul, and by her 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
