Al, you made me a better person, teacher, and mentor to my students. I will never forget your patience, sense of humor, and knowledge of all things important. You are already missed by all of us who had the opportunity to know you. Sending love to your family today and always in your memory.

  2. Mr Desmarais taught me to be a better listener. His stories and anecdotes held me captive for just 1 school year, but stay with me today. (One particularly amusing memory was when he bought a new car, maybe a Saab or Fiat, with an owners manual with language instructing the owner how to work the air conditioning in the car. Several pages long and many words were used to describe what amounted to rolling down the window.)

Thank you for being a teacher and sharing with your students.

Sleep well, old friend. Time to embrace the Lord.

  4. Dear seminarian friend. The memories will linger on. Our days at the seminary will never be forgotten. We were a family. Yet, it always hurts when a family member is gone forever.
May God be merciful and open His arms and His kingdom to you. And may you pray for us.
God be with you as you rest in peace.

I have fond memories of Al from our high school days together at St. Anthony’s Seminary. In later years we corresponded intermittently, and it was clear he had become a good man with a lively intellect and an intact sense of humor. May you rest in peace, old friend.
