Obituary
Albert J. Sepe
June 14, 1937 – December 2, 2024
A much loved father, grandfather, and friend, Albert J. Sepe, 87, of Laguna Niguel, CA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. He had bravely confronted and fought liver and kidney disease. He is reunited with his beloved wife, the late Margaret J. Sepe, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Born on June 14, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Albert was the third child of the late Ralph and Louise Sepe. At the age of 8, Albert and his family moved to California, settling in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles. After graduating from Hollywood High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Orleans, France, where he proudly served and developed a lifelong admiration for all things French. He later attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles where he studied accounting and bookkeeping. Years later, Albert welcomed his son, Jonathan, with former spouse Christine Azzoni Dow. He spent the last several decades of his life with his second wife, the late Margaret J. Sepe, in their beautiful Laguna Niguel home where they frequently hosted get-togethers with friends and family members alike.
Albert lived a beautiful life enriched by his passions and experiences. He was an exceptional singer, volunteering both as a cantor and a member of the choir at the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, where he often sang “Ave Maria”. He was a fervent admirer of classical music and opera, finding beauty and solace in its melodies and arias. He was also a skilled painter of still life and scenic watercolor works as well as an avid gardener who cultivated dozens of various rose bushes in his backyard. His travels and love of the arts and culture shaped his appreciation for life’s finer moments, which he generously shared with those he loved. Albert’s gentle spirit, deep love for his family and many friends, and unwavering kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory is a lasting gift, cherished by all who were fortunate to have him in their lives.
Albert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Christina Sepe; his stepchildren: Victoria Landry, Richard Cosimini Jr., Donna Cory, Jane Jensen and Peter, David Cosimini, and Mia Finnegan and Ritch; and his brother and sister-in-law Tony and Ana Sepe. He is predeceased by his sister Irene Apollo and his stepdaughter Laurie Humes-Page.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Julia Sepe, Douglas Key, Virginia Key, Emma Cory, Francis Humes Jr., J. Sydney Humes-Carlson and Josh, Jack Page, Abby Cosimini, India Roy, Paul Jensen, the late Noah Finnegan, Margaret Finnegan, and Eli Finnegan. His role as “Papa” brought him immense pride and joy.
A memorial mass will be held at the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano on December 30 at 11 a.m. to honor Albert’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Albert’s memory to a charity of your choice.
