Managing Grief in a Post-Covid World
In this post-COVID world, there is significant concern about how the pandemic has had a long-term effect on people’s experience with bereavement. The increased number of deaths among the elderly especially in facilities, coupled with the inability to say effective goodbyes and the lack of formal ceremony has certainly complicated grief for residents, their families, and our staffs. Though grief does not proceed according to any set of “stages,” there are helpful ways to understand our experiences with loss. In this workshop, we’ll discover how bereavement becomes integrated into life through the natural coping processes humans undergo. Moreover, we’ll discover how to help ourselves and others when “getting stuck” in grief.
