 
A burial vault offers two important benefits.

The beauty of a vault chosen to match the casket is a compliment to your choice of casket, and adds dignity to the graveside ceremony. Further, the visible strength of the vault adds an extra sense of permanence and peace-of-mind for the family.
- A well-designed vault also plays a protective role. A lined vault protects the casket from the elements, particularly water, and its strength insures protection of the casket from heavy machinery such as backhoes and tractors which will inevitably pass over the grave. Vaults are required by most cemeteries in California to guard against ground slippage.

All are made of reinforced concrete (increased weight results from improved strength). Optional polystyrene provides the best water-resistant protection. Arched lid with tongue-and-groove design offers the best structural protection.
